A new high-speed line between the Frankfurt and Mannheim metropolitan areas, separating fast passenger traffic from slower regional and freight services on the existing Riedbahn. The route via Bergstraße was selected in 2023 after extensive public participation. The project addresses one of the most congested rail corridors in Germany.
